I recently visited the Clark County Wetlands Park just to the east of Las Vegas, a great place to shoot some Nevada landscape images. This is a nature preserve that provides a wildlife habitat for plants and animals as well as helping to recycle water. Given the fact that we're in the middle of the desert, and have just come out of a hot record breaking summer, I was really suprised by the volume of water flowing along Las Vegas Wash through the park. This is a huge recycling project though and much of the water is reclaimed and will eventually be used again. Within the park there is enough water to supply ponds and wetlands and to sustain a thriving and lush environment that attracts migratory birds, bats and insects. The Las Vegas Wash runs for about 12 miles eventually empying into Lake Mead - literally providing an oasis in the middle of the desert!
