These are some photographs of my first foray into the Valley of Fire State Park just to the north of Las Vegas.
The Valley of Fire is famous for its vibrant red Aztec sandstone outcrops alongside tan limestone mountains that together have been shaped and sculpted by the elements over millions of years. This otherworldly landscape consists of a variety of geologic formations that include layered rocks of swirling colours and patterns, arches, slot canyons, and rocks that contain petroglyphs carved into the stone by ancient peoples. Altogether these rock formations provide some spectacular and unique panoramic scenery in the middle of the Mojave Desert.
Definitely more to explore and show in this park - stay tuned!
